There Is No God

As a pastor and a Christian, I have heard many criticisms of my faith. I am cool with that, after all, there was a time when I did not believe and offered as bad, if not worse criticisms myself. One of the things I often hear is how cruel and intolerant God and the Christian faith is. I have to admit that most of the harsh things said about Christians are earned by those who call themselves Christians, but God is a different story. He is called cruel and intolerant for a lot of wrong reasons and mostly because people refuse to read the whole Bible and take things in context. I include Christians in this. They are just as bad to quote one liner to point out how bad someone or something is and tell you that you are going to hell. The Bible was never meant to be a book to prove our point by pulling out what fits our argument. It is meant to show how God is God and we are not and that there is morality that matters in this world and those morals are based on who He is and not what we think it should be.
So for a moment I am blogging as if there is no God.
If you disagree with me about anything, you are a scumbag. I make the rules and I am right. Who are you to disagree with me? Nature put me at the top of the food chain and my opinion of what is right is right. Sure, you can have an opinion, but I don’t care what it is and that makes you intolerant because you won’t even try to understand why I am right. I made myself to be the god of this blog and anywhere else I am. My beliefs are right because I believe them.
I, for this blog, now believe in evolution and natural selection. It is good science and it is right. Natural selection is the process by which biological organisms with favorable traits survive and reproduce more successfully than organisms that do not possess such traits, and, conversely, organisms with deleterious traits survive and reproduce less successfully than organisms lacking such deleterious traits. (New World Encyclopedia) Because of this, I must be superior or I would not have survived. Therefore, people who are inferior to me will be or should be dead and cease to exist. This includes homosexuals who cannot reproduce for themselves and therefore must be inferior. They should not survive the evolutionary process and should be dead. Don’t get mad at me, there is no God and I am making the rules. Who are you to try to force your morals on me? You fascist pig. That is real science that backs me up. Only someone who believes in a loving God who provides a way for all of a fallen humanity to be forgiven would ever think that homosexuals have a right to exist on this planet. Real humanists know that evolution is right and never would allow for anything that can’t even reproduce itself to continue to evolve. That would be unscientific and mean that evolution is flawed and cruel. It would mean that weaker things could not continue and have to be replaced by better things, like me.
Okay, back to reality. I do believe in God. Yes, God allows for sin to be punished by death, but at least it is because of a sin of choice rather than being born a certain way that condemns us. Humans are all going to sin. I too have and do still sin. Over time God dealt with sin in different ways. But every time He dealt with sin, He offered a chance to repent first. Read the whole Bible before you challenge me on that one. God never just kills innocent people. God even cares when an animal dies. But nature and evolution, have no conscious or morals and the weak and inadequate will die with no hope. And if there is no God or higher authority, who are you or anyone else to tell me how to live? If there is no God, then I will be God to myself and you can not.
God is love and chose to give a way to be forgiven through the death of His Son. He is holy, we are not. But God made it possible for us to become one with Him. Not through evolution or natural selection, but through redemption. No sin is worse than another. We don’t get to choose what sin is, God does. We don’t get to condemn either, so stop it Christians. We need to remember that we are only going to heaven by the grace of a loving God, not because we are special. And none of us have become perfect in this body. (I am close).
The Bible is a beautiful book of God’s love for a fallen creation and His provision to restore us. He has, does, and will judge sin that is not forgiven, but did, will, and does forgive any and all sin when asked. And there are no bigger sins than another. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

A Cruel God

by pastortimfowler

Revelation 21:4He (God) will wipe every tear from their eyes. There won’t be any more death. There won’t be any grief, crying, or pain, because the first things have disappeared.”
Is God cruel? After all, the Bible says that he killed many innocent animals and in many cases people, including women and children. That goes against even His own commandment to not kill.
Kill comes from the Hebrew word rāṣaḥ-a primitive root; kill (a human being), especially to murder :- put to death, kill, (man-) slay (-er), murder (-er). As you can see it does not have anything to do with animals. It has to do with taking the life of another human without cause.
I want to share a few thoughts in light of the verse from Revelation at the top.
Today, some people think that this life is the one and only. They believe that the only thing that matters is what happens now. Their reasoning of morality is based on feelings, mainly their own. If something makes them feel bad, then it is wrong, if it makes them feel good, then it is right. Here’s the problem with that thinking. Who’s to say my feelings, if different from yours are right or wrong? If I think that it is okay to have sex with little children, who are you to tell me I am wrong. Sure, that is an extreme. So what about if I want to smoke and feel like it is alright? Or what if I want to cheat on my wife and feel it is alright? If humans are the ones who determine what is right or wrong, which humans have the authority to tell me what that is?
As a Christian, I believe that all of mankind is flawed and we have only the morality of God be judged by. The problem with that for most is that God’s morals don’t change with my or your feelings. It does not matter if I feel it is okay to have sex with a child, it is wrong in God’s morality therefore it is wrong in mine. God’s law is the basis for most human laws on earth and have been for as long as we have been here. God is moral and good and loving, not cruel.

Don’t confuse love and good and moral with free from consequences. God has said from the beginning of time that sin brings on death, physical and spiritual. Spiritual death is for those who are not reconciled with God at the time of their physical death. Physical death is the result of sin being confined to the flesh. God’s plan from creation was for us to live with Him eternally. Our sin separates us from Him and God provided a substitute for us in death through Jesus Christ so that sin could die with the flesh and the spirit could be redeemed for eternity. Physical death begins eternal existence.
Now this is a blog, not a theological paper, so I am stating biblical doctrine that I don’t have room to elaborate on in a blog. But the point of this blog is that we focus on this life and that we should remember that there is something that happens after we die.Either eternal life or eternal death.

God does not want anyone to end up in hell. He made salvation easy and accessible to all. I believe the Bible teaches that some go to heaven even if they did not go through the church view of salvation as in the confess and pray for forgiveness. Mainly what I am talking about is children and those who can’t understand right and wrong. Then there are those who have never heard about God from those who believe. Romans 1:20 From the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly observed in what he made. As a result, people have no excuse. I believe this says that someone can look at creation and never hear about God, but make a logical assumption that something greater than them made it all and believe, that God is so loving and merciful that He will accept them in Heaven. Gods (gods) are not something that are new. Human societies have always believed in supernatural beings. They just want the ones who let them make the rules instead of a True Living God that makes the rules
So if innocent children and those who have no teaching of God die, like in a worldwide flood or a war, and they go to heaven and heaven is what God say it is, isn’t that good. Is it better to live in this world with death and pain and sickness or live forever where there is none of that? God even promises a new heaven and a new earth where animals will not even kill each other. I don’t know if animals have eternal souls, I have my opinion, but I do know that God has always cared for even a bird that dies. Matthew 10:29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s permission.
A cruel God? I don’t think so.

Longing For The Days of Old

by pastortimfowler

If you are not a football fan like I am, don’t give up on this blog yet. If you are a football fan like I am, then you will understand what I am about to say. I long for the days of old. I think football is getting too soft. I saw more penalties this weekend for what use to be a good, hard hit, and now the guys have no idea how to tackle someone for fear of losing yardage to those penalties. Football use to be a sport of real men, somewhat of the gladiator type. Now it seems to be driven by the political correctness crowd. And that is what bothers me the most.
Political correctness, the love of money, and personal motives, seems to drive everything that we do today. It is rare that you see an individual whose motives are not driven by those things. Even the news that we see on TV has become political and money driven. I have no problem with anyone who makes money from hard work or creative ideas. I do have a problem when they make money off twisted truths and the less fortunate.
So that brings me to the story of Penn State University and what happened to one of the football coaches. If you haven’t heard, you have not looked at any news outlet, because this has been all over the place. But there was an assistant coach who was caught performing lewd sexual acts on a young boy. He was not just accused, but was actually seen as he was molesting a young boy in the showers of the players locker room. This is the stuff that makes me long for the good old days.
There was a time when if a person like this was caught, they were considered lucky if they made it to trial. Someone would have taken justice into their own hands and this man would never touch a little boy again. Sure, there are those who will argue for the legal system to work, but I somehow like the thoughts of someone “manning up” and handling the problem. I am not talking about sitting around plotting a crime, I am talking about taking swift immediate actions to protect a child, not a football program. I would like to think that had I walked in on this crime that I would have been able to ask forgiveness for beating this man to a bloody pulp. And what about the other coaches and the 300 pound football players? Couldn’t they have made sure that this pervert, “slipped on a bar of soap”?
Instead, this man was allowed to continue to hurt innocent children for the sake of a football program. This is what I was talking about earlier with political or money, or selfish motivations that I see. There was a time when these things were not allowed to go unchecked. Someone would have made sure that this fellow did not hurt someone again.
I kept hearing the news report that the head coach did everything that was legally required of him and then they asked, but did he do all that was morally required. This is the same news media that despises God and does everything in their power to discredit God and His people. So I have to ask, if there is no God, where do morals come from? The only answer left is that they come from people. And if people make morals, then it is only subject to whose morals we want to follow. If I am the one making up the morals of society, I can make it perfectly fine to molest little children and who are yo to question me? After all, we shouldn’t judge, right?
But that is not where morals find there beginnings. Morals come from a Holy God, who by the way, finds molesting little children detestable, and His morals are placed inside decent humans who have a responsibility to protect innocent people. Maybe not by pounding such a pervert into a bloody pulp, but maybe by dragging his sorry butt out into the middle of the schoolyard and holding him down until the police come and take him away.
But no. We want to spend our time protecting football players from being hit too hard during an inherently physical and violent game. We want to make sure that an unprotected receiver doesn’t get hit too hard and if so, throw a penalty flag, while we let an unprotected little child get raped and the football program that provided the man who did a job, continues to a football program at all.
Sorry for the rant, but I am disgusted by this whole thing.
